Bronze medal in the 100 meters freestyle final at the European Championships

David Popovici ranked third in the 100 meter freestyle final at the European Short Course Championships in Otopeni. Robert Badea ranked 5th in the 400 meter medley.

David Popovici won the bronze medal in the 100 meters freestyle final at the European Championships. David Popovici started with small chances in the end, from lane 7. The Romanian swimmer recovered a lot after the last lap in the pool, climbing spectacularly from 7th place to 3rd.

Popovici, who before the last length of the pool was in 7th place, finished the race with a time of 46.05.

The gold medal went to the French Maxime Groussei (45.46), and the Italian Alessandro Miressi (45.51) was second.

On Saturday, David Popovici placed fourth in the 200 m freestyle at the European Short Course Swimming Championship, a competition hosted by Otopeni. Popovici was clocked with a time of 1:41.52.

The British Matthew Richards finished in first place (1:41.01), another Briton, James Guy (1:41.12), was second, and Danas Rapsys from Lithuania (1:41.15) was third.
