Announcing the death of someone that is loved by many is always an unfortunate and sad event. Unfortunately, we have one of those announcements today, which seems to be happening frequently in 2023.
A soap opera star who got her start in the 1970s on One Life to Live has died at the age of 66. Andrea Evans, who played Tina Lord on that soap opera was known and loved by many.
The cause of death for Andrea was breast cancer. She died at her home in Pasadena, according to representatives who announced her death.
One of the individuals who spoke about her death was Nick Leicht, her manager. He said: “I’ve been working with Andrea for the past seven years. She was such a tremendous talent and an absolute joy to work with”
After playing Tina Lord, she went on to work on The Young and the Restless, playing Patti Weaver. She also played Rebecca Hotchkiss on The Bold and the Beautiful.
She was nominated for two daytime Emmy awards during her career.
Along with playing on those soap operas, she also played on the drama series from Amazon Prime, The Bay. She played on that show from 2017 to 2020.
Unfortunately, her soap opera career came to a close when she left One Life to Live in 1990. A stalker had threatened her life, making the move necessary.
She said: “All of a sudden, I went from a happy-go-lucky life to having regular conversations with the police. This was before people were that aware. There was a great disbelief that here this man was trying to harm me, and the police could do nothing about it.”
The Russian man who was the stalker cut his wrists at one point. He wrote death threats to her in his own blood but there were no stalking laws in place at the time, so she didn’t get any help from the police.
She did say: “I was able to help by publicizing it, to help get better stalking laws enforced. I think that’s another reason I was thrilled to be at ‘One Life To Live,’ to kind of bring the whole situation … full circle.”
We will miss what she offered. Rest in peace.
