An officer saves a 2-year-old girl from the scene of an accident
In June 2015, Stephanie, her husband Carlos, and their four children were involved in a car accident in Brighton, Colorado. Unfortunately, Carlos died immediately after the impact, and Stephanie and the three children were seriously injured.
The only person who remained unharmed was the youngest daughter, 2-year-old Sirena.
The medical crews at the scene did everything they could to help the injured, but for the father, the accident proved fatal.
Little Sirena was pulled from the twisted wreckage of the car by a police officer named Nick Struck.
Later, the image of the police officer and Sirena circulated the internet. At the time of the accident, Nick understood that the 2-year-old girl who had escaped unharmed must have been very scared. So he decided to get her out of there quickly.
He remembered that his own daughter liked to be caressed while he sang “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” to calm her down. He did the same with little Sirena, holding her in his arms for a long time, making sure she was calm and safe.
“I have a 2-year-old daughter, and she is my first child. My first thought was that it could have been her in Sirena’s place,” Nick said.
The act of kindness displayed by this police officer touched the world, and the image of him and little Sirena went viral. His gesture was incredibly touching and demonstrated how important empathy is in the world we live in.
In these difficult moments when people face major problems, a simple action can make a huge difference. The courageous and empathetic act of Police Officer Nick Struck changed the life of a family and inspired people from all over the world.
