Shaun Resnik, had became the first single gay man that became a father, via surrogate, in Victoria, Melbourne.

After nearly four years later, on 22nd of March, Shaun had held his baby boy, Eli Michael, in his arms.
“It’s a love like I’ve never experienced before” Shaun Resnik said in an interview with Seven News.

44-year-old Shaun had started to search when he was in Facebook groups, before his 40th birthday.
On the last three-and-a-half year, the single dad had experinced three different surrogate that failed, and after nearly four years, he held his baby boy.
“This is huge! It’s time society got to see single gay men as dads” he said.

“I have always wanted to be a dad, I just didn’t know how I was going to make it possible.”
“He’s a good bubba. As long as there is a bottle in his mouth he’s calm, relaxed and chilled”
“But he has a scream that will pierce your soul! He’s keeping us up at night and if I wasn’t bald, I would have lost my hair already.”
“I’ve always wanted to be a dad as I have a wonderful relationship with my parents”
“Some of my fondest memories was growing for walks with my dad and the dogs and we just have this amazing bond.”

“I just wanted to have that connection with my beautiful kids and that’s why it was worth it. It was hard work but worth it.”
“At the time of my journey I was a single gay man and I really yearned to have a family.”
“I’m now in a relationship. He’s just joined us on this journey. The house is full with two dogs, a baby and a partner. All of those dreams have come true.”
Surrogate mother, friend of Shaun, Carla Pincombe, was happy to be able to help her friend.
“Joy. Pure joy. I guess, surprise, and probably relief as well” she said.
Partner of Shaun Resnik, Sean, was also happy with the situation.

“Exhausting and exhilarating all at once!”
“I’ve had my hands full… of dirty nappies and chucks.”
“Sean’s doing a fantastic job and it’s been a delight seeing Carla and her kids for Eli cuddles. Baby Eli rules the house!”
“I was willing to do it on my own and that’s exactly what I would have done” Shaun continued.
“My advice is to go for it but don’t put it off too long.”

“This is a long process. It’s marathon, not a sprint.”
“If Carla is up to it and I’m not completely exhausted by the end of it, I’ll do it for him” he added that he is down for a sibling, for Eli Michael.
